Takas generous 30m length and 8m beam offers very spacious accomodation and communal areas for up to 30 guests. Her cabins are all air conditioned and En-Suite is available in the Stateroom, Deluxe Twin & Deluxe Double cabins. The Standard Twin and Quad share cabins on the lower deck have shared facilities. She departs Cairns every Tuesday and Friday morning to visit both the Outer Great Barrier Reef (Norman and Saxon reefs) and the Cod Hole and southern Ribbon Reefs.
Taka is one of the least expensive ways to visit the Ribbon Reefs and the Cod Hole. These sites are frequented by only a select few vessels and often your only option is a "Fly-Dive" package. Whilst these packages are excellent experiences they are not affordable for all and Taka brings these spectacular sites within the financial grasp of the diver on a lower budget. Her excellent spacious facilities are perfect for relaxed cruising. The saloon features a large flat screen TV as well as internet access and a computer workstation for checking out the great shots you got on the last dive.
The expansive dive deck has more than enough space and offers personal storage bins for every diver. With 4 toilets and 4 hot showers close by you are rarely waiting for a post dive shower before heading off to relax on the sundeck or in the bar or restaurant. Perfectly designed for long distance cruising, Taka is your answer if you have an extra day or two and want to experience the Cod Hole and Ribbon Reefs more affordably.
Tuesday - 2 Dives
At 9:15am you are transferred to Taka for your relaxing 90 minute cruise to the outer reef. Your experience begins with a gentle warm up dive at Saxon or Norman reef and unlimited snorkeling. In the evening you have the opportunity to night dive one of these two excellent outer reefs and enjoy the nocturnal reef life (which is completely different to the day incidentaly). After dinner is served relax with a drink and then retire to your cabin as you cruise overnight up to the spectacular Ribbon Reefs.
Wednesday - 4 Dives
You awake with the sun rising over the pristine seldom dived Ribbon Reefs. These reefs are further offshore and further north and offer excellent visibility and stunning un-touched flora & fauna. The variety of marine life here is staggering. The sheer number of corals and different species of reef fish is difficult to explain and just needs to be experienced. Four dives await you at a variety of sites. The exact sites vary due to prevalent tides and weather conditions but needless to say you wont be dissapointed. Another night dive brings you face to face with the nocturnal marine life again before returning to Taka for dinner. The evening is spent relaxing and no doubt chatting at the bar about the days experiences before retiring for the night on the reef.
Thursday - 4 Dives
Thursday starts early again offering another four dives (incuding another night dive) around the Ribbon Reef and Agincourt Reef systems. The sheer size of the reef system is difficult to comprehend. There are literally endless diving sites to explore. Two nights here is never enough! The day concludes with dinner and a relaxing cruise south overnight back to Cairns.
Friday - Transfer back to Cairns
A light breakfast is served and then you are transferred back to your Cairns City hotel usually by 9am. Your only regret will be you didn't have more time to explore this outstanding natural wonder. The trip may have ended but we assure you the memories wont. . .
Friday - 2 Dives

Saturday morning you awake at the Ribbon Reefs & Cod Hole - 4 Dives
As the sun rises you find yourself a good distance further north at the famous Cod Hole and associated Ribbon Reefs. Today offers 4 dives including a night dive and at least one dive with the huge friendly Potato Cod. This is a dive and photo opportunity that will stick with you forever! The day is spent exploring some of the best sites that the reef has to offer. Your day concludes relaxing and chatting about the experiences before retiring to your cabin for a night on the reef.
Sunday - 4 Dives
We continue the weekend with more superb diving and snorkelling opportunities throughout the Ribbon Reefs. The areas you are diving now are not dived frequently atall - they are remote and well out of the range of daytrips. As a result the marine life abounds and the water clarity is superb. Four more memorable dives get logged today, including a night dive. The night transformation of the reef is something that is a definate must to experience. Night diving here is simply amazing! Here you are truly in a divers paradise, a completely humbling experience as you marvel at the variety of marine life.
Monday - 4 Dives
Monday sees a continuation of the fantastic diving you did yesterday. One site that is a must (tides & weather permitting) is Steve's Bommie. This site is known as a photographers paradise. It is virtually impossible not to get a good photograph at this site with the vast array of marine life. Four more dives fly by far too quickly in this divers playground and all too soon after your final night dive and dinner you are cruising south overnight back to Cairns
Tuesday
You arrive back in Cairns at around 7am and after breakfast you will be transferred back to your Cairns city accommodation at approximately 9am. The trip may be over but your photographs and memories will be with you forever. . .
